These fascinating plants are so quirky with their unique exposed root system that take on some very unusual forms!
In their natural environment in parts of Southern Asia, they can grow quite large, however contained in a pot and with an occasional trim, they can stay fairly small making them ideal to display on bookshelves, coffee tables or even terrariums!
Ficus microcarpa 'Ginseng' | Indian Laurel
Position somewhere with bright, indirect light or in light shade. They'll be happy with a little bit of early morning or late afternoon sunshine but any more than that can burn their leaves.
The soil can be left to get quite dry as they store water in their exposed root systems. Every two weeks or so should be fine.
When watering, thoroughly soak the soil until water drains out of the bottom of the pot. Discard any excess water in the saucer or decorative pot to prevent waterlogged roots.
It's important to adjust your watering routine based on the time of year and specific environmental conditions like humidity and temperature.
