Stapelia leendertziae, also known as Black Bells or the Carrion Plant, is a unique succulent species known for its quirky appearance...and aroma! Whilst not currently in bloom, when it does its purple, star-shaped flowers emit a pungent scent reminiscent of rotting flesh, attracting pollinators such as flies! Don't worry though, it's very subtle and you'd have to be very close up to smell it!

  • Position somewhere nice and bright - at least two hours of full sun would be ideal.

It's always best to underwater these plants as they are drought tolerant and store water in their fleshy leaves! Water more frequently in the warmer months, and always allow at least 50% of the soil to dry out in between waterings.

When watering, thoroughly soak the soil until water drains out of the bottom of the pot. Discard any excess water in the saucer or decorative pot to prevent waterlogged roots.

It's important to adjust your watering routine based on the time of year and specific environmental conditions like humidity and temperature.
